Lyst Hygiene FAQs

DPV stands for Delivery Point Validation.  It is a licensed process that verifies that an address is deliverable, and can be sent to that address.  Invalid addresses are also flagged.  This process is necessary in order to generate a CASS Certificate that the Post Office will require when presenting bulk mailing pieces.

CASS stands for Coding Accuracy Support System.  It is a licensed certification system from the USPS for address validation.  This process will standardize your mailing list, update outdated addresses, and verify that addresses are valid & complete.

DSF stands for Delivery Sequence File.  DSF Processing is a licensed process that provides walk sequence codes that will organize your mail pieces in the exact order that the mail carrier travels, thus qualifying your mailing for USPS Enhanced Carrier-Route (ECR), Basic, or High Density or Saturation postal discounts.  It is highly recommended only if the carrier-routes in your mailing list are at least 75% or more saturated.

NCOA stands for National Change of Address.  It is a licensed data set containing approximately 160 million change-of-address records filed with the US Postal Service in the last 48 months.  This database consists of the names and addresses of individuals, families, and businesses who have filed a change of address.  In opting to have your list be NCOA Certified, we will compare your mailing list against the USPS move update database to replace any outdated addresses with the new address.  Undeliverable addresses are flagged also.

Merge/Purge is the process of combining multiple data files from various sources and identifying duplicates and removing them based on 3 optional matching criteria’s such as by Address Only, by Family Last Name & Address, & by Individual Name & Address. The most common of these would be matching by Address Only as mailers usually would like to mail to 1 person per Address. The multiple files can be prioritized as to which file would you like the surviving record to remain in.

We can work with Excel or Text files.  For Text files, the delimiters can either be Comma, Tab, Colon, or Vertical Bar (aka Pipe) Delimited.  The most common of these are Comma Delimited.  We can also work with Fixed Text formatted files.  For all Text Files, we will require a file layout to be included with the file that will have the descriptions of the fields for each record.

Mapping FAQs

When a business wants to service customers a limited distance around their office or facility they can get a radius map that would show the number of potential clients in their service area.  The business can give a specific location by cross street or an exact address and that would be the point to measure the radius from. Examples:

  1. A restaurant is applying for their liquor license and the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) Bureau requires them to mail a notification to all addresses within 500’ of their restaurant.
  2. A painting contractor just finished a job in a neighborhood and would like to send a postcard to neighbors surrounding the job who might want painting services.

Boundary Mapping is where the business gives a north, south, east, west boundary for the area they want to service. A business could send a Jpeg or picture map of the area highlighted or drawn to use as the area they want to service. Then a list would be created of potential customers within the mapped area that would receive a mail piece.

Zone Mapping is specific to an area that is already established, for example Water Districts, City Boundaries, Restaurant Delivery Area or County Lines.

Zip4 Mapping is also known as Street Level mapping or Notification Mapping. Zip4 mapping gets specific down to the zip4 street level compared to other mapping solutions. This mapping is usually for notifying surrounding addresses for liquor License applications, street paving, water districts, road work or parades, where the mailing can’t cross over a specific streets or area. Zip+4 mapping will not be fully saturated and will eliminate the advantage of discounted postage but the area will be exact and the mailing list and print costs will be reduced due to smaller production runs.

Carrier Route mapping will show the specific boundary that the carrier route delivers to. Every carrier route is assigned by the Post Office. Carrier Route boundary mapping provides mailers with reference information for applying carrier route codes to addresses when taking advantage of presort for postage discounts. Mail containing carrier route codes can then be presorted to the carrier route level.

Zip Code maps are created to the client’s request when they want to mail to a certain Zip Code to reach a targeted demographic. Every zip code is oddly shaped.  When a client wants to see a map of the Zip Code they want to mail to the map is created highlighting the zip codes, carrier route and many streets.

Mailing and Email FAQs

There are hundreds of sources that go into a consumer list such as:

  • Proprietary Sources
  • Consumer Surveys
  • Tax Assessor Data
  • Public Records
  • State License Files
  • Voter Registrations
  • Credit Card Transaction Data
  • Phone Directories
  • Census Data
  • Consumer buying habits
  • Historical DMV Data

Some of the consumer list have Email addresses that can be output. However –  Please note: Using prospect emails for deployment in client email systems such as Constant Contact, Survey Monkey, etc is prohibited in the contracts and sending prospect email can get a client blacklisted from their services.  We’ve seen it happen before, so want to be sure you’re aware and pass this information on to the end-user/mailer.  We suggest allowing our email partners to deploy these emails because the consumers have opted into that network directly.  When you pull the emails and deploy outside of the opt-in network you can see higher spam clicks from the consumers, and less inboxing/delivery of the emails themselves since the server the emails are coming from an unknown IP.

Yes However only 8 – 10% of the file has phone numbers because they are all scrubbed thru the do not call registry.
Please note, in order to output phones on Consumer orders, we would need a SAN Number.
SAN: In 2003, the FTC enacted the Do Not Call registry to combat telemarketing fraud and aggressive tactics and give consumers added privacy protections and defenses.  To date, approximately 90% of the nation is registered on the National Do Not Call list.  As a company/business, if you are involved with telemarketing, there are certain guidelines you need to follow in order to be in compliance with the DNC registry.  One of those guidelines is to register for a Subscription Account Number (SAN) with the Federal Trade Commission.
You can use the link below to register for a SAN number.  A SAN number (Subscriber Account Number) is required to output phone numbers for telemarketing.
Go to: https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov/

Click on the “Register New Users” tab and follow the instructions.

You can choose, zip codes, Carrier routes, SCF’ , State , County, Radius and you can also provide a map that we can use to capture your specific areas such as neighborhoods.

Consumer Lists are rented for either 1 time use or unlimited use for 1 year. You do not buy the list you rent the list.
